We have been asking CARQUEST Toronto to flush the old data out of their ADIS DC Computer and to get it out of our non-active sku data base. Old lines just junk up the data that staff have to search thru.
Example – we dump the REPORTS-Inventory-PN Code data and match up line codes to a bucket of ‘groups’ we made …so we can see all lines that are in the Brake section ( or bucket) .. so we find new Lines that don’t match .. handy to spot new lines that CARQUEST throw at us with little announcement .. and handy to see some junk line a staff member stumbled across when crediting some part back …
We also dump old data from our system … and with the recent conversion of many line from the old CARQUEST line to the new merged line with Advance Auto …boy are there a lot of old junk lines in YOUR store’s system.
We use a PN Code ( sub line ) of 999 for junk data … and started making these sub lines …then we found out we could have DFIU data import create these lines for us .. grab all your active lines and make a part number called ‘Test’ with PN Code of 999 and set DFIU to create the PN Code if it doesn’t exist.
Go thru your data dump –sort on Desc#2 and look for the ‘Replaced by …. ” and sort with qty on hand ( send the to your store for action ) … and sort the parts with zero on hand and import into your system with there new PN Code of 999
Once you have flushed your old data …so much easier to look at good data to see what is happening. PS – our stores have approx 52,000 sku;s in system for CARQUEST ( non-X line ) data each … bet you have over 100,000 in your store.
