At year end you think back on last year and wonder what will happen for the new year. I am struck by how many ‘little’ things could be fixed in Exploris ( NextPart ) ?
Doing some year end stuff – like take the the sales by PN Code ( sub line ) and make a workable spreadsheet … many little things we have learned thru the years of this report being less than perfect include:
-sort by line code and ADD 3 cells for the Totals …so these line and totals line up
-have learned how to convert text to numbers by copying a cell with a number 1 in it and ‘paste special’ using ‘multiply’ ….but before you do that –sort for BLANK PN Codes ( another storey onto it’s self why they would let you make a part number with a BLANK PN Code … ) and asking a PN Code # ( we use 900 )
- using the Replace to take the Line XXX Total: to just the name …. like the sub lines have …so it sorts better ….then use a =clean(trim( A 1 )) to clean up.
- We have made a list of buckets to ground line codes into groups …
This first image is all sub lines …. showing how we add 1000 to the totals so it will sort better – Americans may laugh at this data ,… Cdn CQ really let us down this year on A/C parts …. OMG …

The software guys could sure make this much easier to get better data out of the system and into Excel … OK – ADD THAT TO MY LIST FOR 2017 ….:-)
