The ability to add X Lines ( non-supported lines in CARQUEST ) is handy. Too bad most jobbers have never learned excel spreadsheeting … truly handy for this task.
What is the biggest X line you add … for us it is the LKQ line of body panels. CARQUEST stopped supporting The BSL line ( for Canada ) a long time ago ( we think …as it is hard to find out this kind of stuff ) …. so we get the data and import.
But — we find we have to cut into 30,000 bit size chunks of data of the DFIU process just craps out. Allow about 4 minutes for the file to load and another 15 minutes for the data to update ( doing it for 3 stores … your actual time may vary ) for each of the 3 parts you import. Last time we did it we used 25,000 parts … may get brave and try 40,000 but I think we are getting close to the fail point …. limit data you bring in …we dropped support for price #5 this time.
BSL was the old Cross Canada part number system –them LKQ took over and revamped the part numbers …. so just over 91,000 parts are updated at a store level because Toronto can’t or won’t do it … hmm …
